October is here! Finally. You all know what that means. I take the fetid corpse of what was once The Impact Factor and levy it is a platform to share my enthusiasm for horror movies!

This year will be a bit different. Previously (the past 4 years of so) I've focused my horror movie watching exclusively around spooby-season. In 2018, I have cast away my fall shackles and decided the entire calendar year is a good time to watch some scary flicks. Therefore, my initial scored list is going to look quite massive. I wanted to put this disclaimer out there so all you fine folks didn't think I marathoned horror movies for 24 hours straight to get a head start on the season.

I will keep updating this list throughout the month, so be sure to check back often for more movies & scores!

October Scare Fest 2016

Perspectives

I know it's only September, but Scare Fest is back! 2016 has been a year of very scary things (not the least of which is the Presidential election), so why not celebrate all the terror with a list of horror movies? This time it is bigger and better than ever. To accomodate and almost certainly overzealous list, I'm posting this a few days before the start of Halloween month.

As I do every October, I’m going to try to watch 3-4 horror movies each week. I predominantly put a focus on watching movies I've never seen. The titles below span all styles of horror, so you're sure to find one on the list that's up your alley. For archival's sake, I've included a scored list of the past two years. There is always more horror goodness to be found!

After watching each film I'll give it a numeric score and update this post. Let's hope I can find a couple more 5/5's!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another special perspectives here on The Impact Factor. As many of you know, I’m an avid horror fan. Books, movies, tv shows, video games, you name it. Last year I went through and watched a ton of horror movies during the month of October and had a blast doing so. Unfortunately, this was still before I set up The Impact Factor so I couldn’t share my thoughts with you all. 2015 is a different story. I’m back and ready to watch through as many new horror movies as possible!

For the month of October, I’m going to try to watch 3-4 horror movies each week. Of course, I’m watching ones I haven’t seen. It’s going to be quite the adventure. I wanted to make this quick perspectives here to give you all my Scare Fest 2014 list (with my review scores!) as well as my tentative list for this year. I’m overly optimistic: I hope to get to as many of the titles on the list as possible, but we'll see what time allows! I’ll keep updating my post with which movies I’ve watched, and how I think they rate.
