1/31/15-2/6/15

It’s weekend time! I am looking forward to an exciting one: playing through the second episode of Telltale’s excellent Game of Thrones with Justine, the midseason premiere for The Walking Dead, and the series premiere for Better Call Saul. As always, here’s a list of the best pieces I found around the web this week. See you all again on Tuesday!

Augusto Quijano
Quijano gives great insight into the tender care Drinkbox Studios put in during production of their fantastic "Metroid-vania" Guacamelee!

Daniel Hindes, Gamespot
YouTube personalities are having increasing power when it comes to marketing, games. The Battlefield series in particular has been guilty of paying YouTubers to talk up a new release. I am not a fan.

Patrick Hancock, Destructoid
KevinDDR has accomplished the near unthinkable, becoming only the sixth person in the world to achieve this status, and the first person outside of Japan. Watching him play Tetris is unreal.

Katie Rife, A.V. Club
Rife pokes fun at the ridiculous comments made by Fox & Friends anchor, Steve Doocy. Boo-hoo, poor boys. Always being put down by the world.

Christian Nutt, Gamasutra
A fascinating interview with Dark Souls II produced Atsuo Yoshimura about the influence the Souls community has on shaping the game. As a huge fan myself, I'm glad we're being heard in such a profound way.

Kwame Opam, The Verge
I find it difficult to imagine a not-terrible live action Zelda series, but I hope to be proven wrong
